April 6, 201313 yr I'm new to unRAID, but have a lot of experience with computers (hardware/microsoft software). Not so much with Linux, from time to time... I'm assembling a server with this board with 5.0 Rc12a, and everything works, except: - Sleep (S3) - It detects the S1, S3 and S5 sleep modes (also think S0), but when entering S3, the CPU fan continues to work, so I think it doesn't sleep completly; - WOL doesn't work at all - I have the Wake on Lan support on (it replies "g" to the ethtools command), the switch port where it is connected keeps the LED on, so there is power with the pc shutdown, and ALSO blinks when I issue the WOL command, but doesn't wake. Have another pc with windows, attached to the same switch, and it turns on with WOL directed to it. - Sensors aren't detected - With the Simple Features instaled, supposedly there is a temp icon on the upper right corner with cpu and another temp, but none of them work, and on the console keeps getting a sensors error, repeting itself. Already run the sensors-detect, replied Y to everything, saved the file, but the error remains... Have already tried FreeNAS (freebsd) and WOL worked right out of the box. Tried also Ubuntu, and both S3 and WOL worked, so it's not a hardware issue. Anyone with experience with these boards or similar can help me on this...?
April 6, 201313 yr Author Glad to see so many answers. - As for the sleep, still doesn't work. I know that for sure (cpu fan stays on) because I can finally WOL, but only if I shutdown from the main menu. If I use the simple features to shutdown or sleep, that won't do... - WOL solved: reinstalled latest RC version, issued the ethtool ... command to change from d to g, echo'd it in go file. But only works it I shut it down from main menu, not simple features. - As for the sensors, it found 1: Found `Winbond W83697HF/F/HG Super IO Sensors (address 0x290, driver `w83627hf') and the result is "Do you want to generate /etc/sysconfig/lm_sensors?" I press Y and the result Copy prog/init/lm_sensors.init to /etc/init.d/lm_sensors for initialization at boot time. You should now start the lm_sensors service to load the required kernel modules. But I don't know how to load this module, and I can't find any of the files or folders refered here (/progr/... and /etc/...) What do I have to do? And there's another sensor, but I can't look for it because the module doesn't exist. It's this one: Using driver `i2c-sis96x' for device 0000:00:02.1: Silicon Integrated Systems SMBus Controller FATAL: Module i2c_sis96x not found. Failed to load module i2c-sis96x. But my motherboard has this chip, it's sis 963L! Where can I find this module, and how do I load it? I'll keep on searching, but it would be a lot easier if someone could help me... Thanks
April 10, 201313 yr Probably not too many people working with Socket A boards these days. Not much good said about the chipset here: http://www.linuxcompatible.org/compatdb/details/741gx_m_linux.html Googling suggests that the chipset is supported in Redhat There is a C source file available at: http://www.cs.fsu.edu/~baker/devices/lxr/http/source/linux/drivers/i2c/busses/i2c-sis96x.c If you are not comfortable with compiling and installing modules you may wish to reconsider running a server with such dated equipment. I am surprised that something that old made with consumer-grade components is still functional. Capacitors could be drying out and causing issues.
