Is there a working Torrent plugin?

Featured Replies

I have searched, installed several versions and read pages and pages of stuff. Currently, I have a version installed ("transmission-2.52p-i486-1_W-W") but am unsure as to how to configure it. I expected to be able to tell it to look at my "torrent files" folder for new torrents to initiate the download but it seems that is too easy.

Am I missing something? Any help would be greatly appreciated...

access it via your browser, port 9091 eg:

tower:9091

I'm not sure about that version, but Influencer's transmission plugin works very well, and even puts a nice settings page on the Settings tab in unRAID.  You can get it here:

transmission and utorrent both work fine in unRAID.

To enable transmission to autoload .torrent files you will need to edit the settings.json file and add:

    "watch-dir": "folder location, ie /mnt/user/torrents",

    "watch-dir-enabled": true

There are a few topics round here discussing this.

Ok thanks - currently running Influencer's plugin again.

Do I need to edit the settings.json file with Influencer's plugin?

Also, if my network folder for when I went the torrent files is "\\UNRAID\disk1\torrents" what do I put in the settings.json file?

Thanks so far

you do if you want it to autoload .torrent files.

If that's the case you will put:

    "watch-dir": "/mnt/disk1/torrents",

    "watch-dir-enabled": true

in the settings.json file

That worked with the addition of the closing " } " which makes all the difference!!

Seems there is a lot of features of Transmission that are only configurable using that file which is a shame but I guess once it's set it's done!

Thanks for your help guys - I was really getting ready to bin UnRAID cos I need the server to do be a torrent and file share server. I just need to copy all my other files over from vm disks now (I'm ditching ESXi in favour of the expansion I can get from UnRAID (can't be arsed with the hassle of running them both))!

Ockingshay - what is the file editor you are using cos Notepad isn't pretty?!

Utorrent is more user friendly but it's alpha build and not allowed on many private sites, hence the need for transmission.

transmission is all done in that file, of which a complete one with all features included can be found in the Transmission wiki site.

I use textmate for mac
