Problem with IcyDock 5-in-3

Featured Replies

Alarm has gone off on the icy-dock 5-in-3.  The documentation says this happens if either the fan fails or the temp gets too high.  Neither is an issue and the manual says the light will glow RED, but it glows YELLOW.  It also says that pressing the reset will stop the screeching, but it stops momentarily and comes back.

Any one had a similar issue?  I have other problems right now, including a bad fan elsewhere in the system, but is not likely related.

The same happened to me once (although I could be wrong about the colour). I fixed the problem by shutting the server down and unplugging it momentarily. I can't recall the details too well, but I think it happened after I had aborted a post by keeping the powerbutton depressed, which suggests that the internal logic of the dock might have gotten confused.

Rene,

Thanks for the reply.

I moved the server to work on it, necessitating a couple of shutdowns (including unplugging) and the problem is still there.

I have a second issue (system takes three tries to power up) and my thought is that the PSU is not delivering enough power - I may try a new PSU.

If it's possible, you can try setting some of the drives to power up in standby. This works well for the WD Green drives and the more recent segates.

If this mitigates the power up issue, then you are correct in power supply delivery.

Perhaps this may assist

Let me add, if a fan is aging, or stalled, it could cause a drain on power too.

While you are inside the machine, have your compressed air handy and blow out all the fans.
