Lost connection to unRAID, besides the ability to ping

Featured Replies

As mentioned in the subject all the sudden lost connection to my unRAID server. Unfortunately I'm not able to get to the console right now, but I was wondering if there was something else I could try.

Quad core 2.4

8 GB RAM

The system was about 3/4 of the way done pre-clearing two 2TB drives. I was also transferring files to the server and noticed it erroring out saying the disk was full. I gave it access to another available disk and it looked like it starting copying over. I had manually initiated the mover to clear the data off the cache drive. It was around that point I lost connection. I can ping both the name and IP, but cannot access it through explorer or the web browser. If I telnet to it all I get in a blank window. No login prompt or anything.

Any ideas? I don't have any way of knowing if the preclear is still running and really don't want to stop it if it is. I assume if I do manually reboot the server I'd have to start over on the preclear if hadn't finished?

Thanks

I'd wait as long as you can stand it, especially if there is obvious drive activity going on. If there is no pressing reason to shutdown (incoming tornado, etc) I'd wait until the drives either all spin down, or all drive lights stay off. If you started the preclear using screen, the process should still be running, and if you wait it out, you should be able to find the reports on the flash drive. It's also possible the server may recover on its own if you leave it be for a little while. If you force down the server, before the preclears are done, you will definitely have to redo them.
