rc12 Samba Permission Issue

Featured Replies

I've spent the last two days trying to figure this out.  But after I upgraded to 5.0rc12, I am no longer able to mount my user shares with r/w access.

All of my computers are Linux based (Ubuntu/Lubuntu), and before the upgrade I used the following lines in the fstab file to mount my shares.

//192.168.1.2/My_Movies /home/scott/Network/My_Movies cifs username=root,password=??????,uid=1000,gid=100 0 0

I was able to get my shares to mount with this

//192.168.1.2/My_Pictures /home/scott/Network/My_Pictures cifs guest,_netdev,uid=nobody,gid=users 0 0

but they are read-only.

If i connect to the server I am able to browse to the share and I have r/w access, but there are some programs (photo,gdrive) that require the share to be mounted before you are able to access it from the program.  So this would be nice to fix.

Ive attached my system.log

syslog1.txt

User root is not allowed share access in version 5.

Wow, that was dead simple.  Now I feel like an idiot.  How did I miss that when I was looking around.
