heffe2001
Anybody know for sure if the Adaptec 1430SA's are SAS compatible? I'm thinking of ordering a few SAS 1tb drives, but need to make sure it'll work on the 1430sa. Link to comment
WeeboTech
The 1430sa is Serial ATA. As far as SAS, there probably is little advantage in getting SAS drives for unRAID. The SAS interface is more for high multitasking enterprise solutions. Plus the fact the drives and controllers are much more expensive. I use SAS drives for my workstation, but that's because it runs 6 different virtual machines. For unRAID file and media storage SATA will do very well However far be it from me to discourage you, Perhaps a hint as to the goal and desire for SAS may provide more input on a recommendation. heffe2001
I was looking at getting a couple ST31000340NS drives (mentioned in the good deals section), but the description on the page says it's a SAS drive, although it is a regular SATA interface on it. Link to comment
