April 19, 201313 yr Running smart reports is great but you need to manually run them and view the results. Usually by the time a drive dies you can't run a smart report anyway so it's pretty much useless. The only way smart reports are useful is if you can spot issues before the drive dies out. When you have 14 drives in an array, running smart reports manually takes a long time. Are there any utilities or plugins out there that monitors the hard drives and will actually notify you of a negative smart result? What would be the easiest way I could run smart reports on my entire array and then log/port that data to a log file? And/OR automate that process?
