Newbie question on network availability / SMB

Featured Replies

Hi.  Sorry if this is a dumb question but I'm new to unRAID and can't seem to figure out how to set the server so that all other computers/devices on the network can read to and from it anytime they need to.  I've set up user shares and mapped them to the network drive via my main PC but even when I can access them through the appropriate drive letters they will still constantly drop from my network places so that I'm unable to connect to it through my HTPC or dlna blu ray player.  I've got everything set up on the same workgroup with unRAID as the local master so what else do I need to do?  I leave the server on and set the drives to spin down after 1 hr of inactivity.  Is something else (wake on LAN?) required to spin them back up again before before another computer can read/write to it?

My only server previously was a little 1TB MyBookLive but at least it had the virtue of always being on and recognized on the network and I don't recall having to do anything special with it to set that up.  It's just there 24/7 which is all I really need from the unRAID server too.  So any help would be appreciated.  Thanks!

Nevermind.  Turned out to just be my antivirus software.
