April 20, 201313 yr Hi, I've downloaded a file transmission-2.77-i686-1PTr.txz (only 557KB), placed it in /boot/extra ran root@Tower:/boot/extra# installpkg transmission-2.77-i686-1PTr.txz Verifying package transmission-2.77-i686-1PTr.txz. Installing package transmission-2.77-i686-1PTr.txz: PACKAGE DESCRIPTION: Package transmission-2.77-i686-1PTr.txz installed. But then nothing happened. And it seemed to "install" way too quickly - it was instantaneous. How can I tell if it is installed, and if it isn't can anyone tell me the correct procedure? I saw some posts in the forum but nothing really clear on how it's supposed to be done. Thanks very much. NM
April 20, 201313 yr Why are you try to install it via that package? There is a premade plugin available in the plugin designs section of the forum as long as you're running version 5. If you aren't you should be.
April 20, 201313 yr Author Can you please point me to the link? I see lots of versions, packages, and no real instructions. Many thanks
April 20, 201313 yr Can you please point me to the link? I see lots of versions, packages, and no real instructions. Many thanks Just go to the plugins design section of this forum and look for the topic with transmission in the title. You just drop the .plg plugin file in /boot/config/plugins and reboot.
April 20, 201313 yr Can you please point me to the link? I see lots of versions, packages, and no real instructions. Many thanks I recommend Influencer's plugins. He has one for Transmission. Here is the link for his github page: https://github.com/Influencer/UNplugged Instructions: Download https://github.com/Influencer/UNplugged/raw/master/transmission_unplugged.plg to your /boot/plugins directory. Reboot or run the command: installpkg /boot/plugins/transmission_unplugged.plg Once successfully installed, visit the Settings web page for your unRAID server (will be something like http://tower/Settings) Under "Unplugged PLG" bar near bottom of the page, click the Transmission icon Adjust settings to your liking (mainly the data directory) Visit the web page http://tower:9091/transmission/web/ to use the actual program. (If you choose a different port number in the previous step, make sure to adjust the port number in this link) That's it. Enjoy!
April 21, 201313 yr Author I thought that looked like a good instruction but still have an error: Cannot install /boot/plugins/transmission_unplugged.plg: file does not end in .tgz, .tbz, .tlz, or .txz Thanks in advance for any suggestion.
April 21, 201313 yr I think those instructions were a little off. Just follow the instructions on Influencer's github. Tapatalk from CM10.1 Kindle
April 21, 201313 yr Reboot or run the command: installpkg /boot/plugins/transmission_unplugged.plg That should be: Reboot or run the command: installplg /boot/plugins/transmission_unplugged.plg
April 21, 201313 yr Author Thanks everyone - It is working and I (and others I'm sure) have gained valuable knowledge on how to install apps in general. NM
April 22, 201313 yr Reboot or run the command: installpkg /boot/plugins/transmission_unplugged.plg That should be: Reboot or run the command: installplg /boot/plugins/transmission_unplugged.plg Yes, I meant installplg, but typed installpkg. Thanks for correcting that PeterB. Sorry for any confusion. Glad you got it working, NoMax. I think those instructions were a little off. Just follow the instructions on Influencer's github. Tapatalk from CM10.1 Kindle There is a generic "how-to install most plugins" wiki page on Influencer's github, but I did not see instructions specific to Transmission. Since Influencer has a whole thread supporting his plugins, there may be more detailed guides buried amongst multiple pages. However, I think my instructions went into more details for this particular plugin than what I saw on the github. I took the time to post some details because NoMax asked for a link & stated he did not see instructions. If you have something more specific in mind, perhaps you could post a link instead of just saying what I posted is "off" while not really providing any additional help.

None was intended. Perhaps I was too short in my reply, but I usually try to be helpful, and Influencers wiki would have helped in this case. In addition to installplg vs installpkg most plugin installation instructions, including Influencer's specify /boot/config/plugins instead of /boot/plugins. Doesn't seem to matter most of the time (if ever), but could possibly. Just affects the order of installation since /boot/plugins gets installed before /boot/config/plugins. Here is what Limetech has to say about those folders.

When I installed my first plugin(s), the instructions I had were to use /boot/plugins (& /boot/extra for packages). I have been installing all my plugins to that same location... but had noticed some plugins also installed themselves to /boot/config/plugins. It had not occurred to me to look up the difference since everything was working for me as I expected. Thank you for providing the link explaining the difference, I learned something.
May 3, 201313 yr But if one were to install the 2.77 package, how do you access it? I have the plugin installed but it is version 2.4 where as the latest version of transmission is 2.77. Is there a way to upgrade the program? Are you using the plugin from Influencer? http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=21260.0 That should install the latest version.
May 7, 201313 yr Hello guys, newbie here. I followed all the steps and i am able to login and load a torrent to transmission, but after the download starts (with slow speed) like 3-4 minutes after, transmission hangs gives and this error: Connection Failed Could not connect to the server. You may need to reload the page to reconnect. The only way to unfreeze is stop and start again the service. i have version 2.76 (13786) by influencer github on unRaid 5.0-rc12a. Also as i checked, i have tranmission configured to save to /mnt/disk1/downloads but when i go in there, although some mb have been downloaded, there is nothing there.. Can anyone help? thank you. Also does tranmission need any dependencies? like libnet, curl etc?
