October 29, 200817 yr I'm running vista on my main pc. My unraid box is running 4.33. I can manually type in \\tower and access the shares, disks, etc. However, I cannot get Tower to appear when I click on "network". I have set "network discovery" to "on" in vista. I have also changed the name of the unraid workgroup to match the vista box. I'm not sure what else to try at this point. Any ideas? Thanks.
October 30, 200817 yr Have you rebooted unraid after you changed the workgroup name? If you instead changed it on the Vista side, you may need to reboot that. I don't think either is case-sensitive, but it wouldn't hurt to make them match exactly. Bill
October 30, 200817 yr Author I did reboot both systems and still no go. However, I believe that I have fixed it. I changed both the Vista box and unRAID system from "WORKGROUP" to "HOME". After that reboot, I could now see Tower under network. I went downstairs and lo-and behold my xbox360 was now unable to connect to my Vista box. I looked in the settings and there was no way to specify a workgroup. So I went back to the vista box, deleted the 360 from vista media center, and then added it again as a media extender. Now, the xbox is connecting to the Vista machine just fine, and I can see it along with Tower under network. I had never previously been able to see the xbox under network. So it appears that it's now fixed and was caused by some combination of the xbox 360 and the default vista workgroup of "WORKGROUP". It's still not exactly clear to me what the issue was, but this appeared to fix it.
