Write speed extremely slow to array (but not to cache)

Featured Replies

Hi

I´ve recently got into the unraid game again. I´m using a HP Microserver N40L and have used the exact same setup before.

In my machine I´ve got:

Parity: Seagate Desktop HDD ST4000DM000 64MB 4TB

Array disk: Seagate Desktop HDD ST4000DM000 64MB 4TB

Cache: WD BLUE 2.5" 750GB 5400RPM SATA/300

The Microservers BIOS has been flashed and configured. The cache drive is connected via the eSATA jack on the back. All disks have been precleared without issues.

Now, if I add files to my shares, via the cache drive, everyting works as it should. Transfer speeds are normal. But if I try to transfer files to a share that doesnt use the cache the speed is non existent. It took 40minutes to transfer a file of 1,1GB. I thought this was strange so I thought I should envoke the mover script and have the stuff on my cache move over to the disk array. Same issue here, its been moving all night and its only managed to move appr 15GB in 8 hours.

I´ll attach my syslog from this morning if somebody could have any ideas whats wrong. Since the transfer speed to the cache is fine I dont think there are any issues with the network, instead it must be something with my disk array...

When running the parity check I get the following result:

Started Stop will take the array off-line.

Parity-Sync in progress. Cancel will stop Parity-Sync.

WARNING: canceling Parity-Sync will leave the array unprotected!

Total size: 4 TB

Current position: 1.34 GB (0%)

Estimated speed: 16.92 MB/sec

Estimated finish: 3940 minutes

List all of your Hardware.

Are you running Simple Features?  (There have been some issues with slow parity checks if a Simple Feature bowser window is open.)

I´m currently running a HP Microserver N40L, 2GB RAM.

unRAID 5.0-rc12a

Parity: Seagate Desktop HDD ST4000DM000 64MB 4TB (in one hot-swap)

Array disk: Seagate Desktop HDD ST4000DM000 64MB 4TB (in hot-swop)

Cache: WD BLUE 2.5" 750GB 5400RPM SATA/300 (in 5,25" place using eSATA to SATA connection)

I´m trying to run a preclear again. Attached is a screenshot. Even if the 2,5" WD Cache wasn't the problem it still looks weird with that temp (7201 degrees celcius). The other 4TB 3,5" looks OK so far...

By the way, should the "start on sector" be different like in the pics?
