May 3, 201313 yr I have never run any VM software and just read the wiki article (long) on ESXi and am probably more confused than when i started. I am planning and building a new unraid server and had a few questions that im confident that the community can answer. Here goes: Final Setup 1. unRaid server - media storage + more (see below) 2. raspberry pi running plex at each TV 3. be able to run multiple HD streams at the same time (max 3 streams) Final goal for unraid sever: 1. hold media (movies/tv/music/pictures) (i know it will do this -- currently running a standard 4.7 box) 2. run as plex sever (saw that the plugin is available for 5.X) 3. be able to download torrents automatically via RSS feed / monitoring a dropbox folder -currently accomplished via a separate windows box. 4. run theRenamer to auto rename files to plex recognized format -currently accomplished on same windows box 5. run plex client to watch view unraid media (not absolutely necessary -- would run plex from raspberry pi) -currently accomplished on same windows box ---------------------------------------------------------------- Final Setup Questions what is the most important component to allow for 3 HD streams for the unraid box -im guessing CPU? (intel i5/i7/xeon) and probably RAM I would like to get rid of the separate windows box if possible. unraid server questions Are points 3-5 possible to accomplish? would i need to use ESXi or VM? Can i boot unraid from flash and windows (if needed) from a dedicated disk at the same time? Thanks for all your help and im sorry if this is similar to other threads (didnt seem to find anything that answered all my questions)
