Pulling DHCP IP despite Static IP Set

Featured Replies

5.0-rc12a - but has been happening at least since upgrade from 4.7 to 5.

I used to obtain IP from router but changed it to static a couple of months ago.

The static IP binds but the the unraid box also goes out an grabs an additional IP from the Router dhcp pool.  Unraid box is reachable via both IPs.

Only 1 NIC.

Ill post syslog tonight if needed.

Just thought I would see if someone else had the same problem and there was a simple fix.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers,

Steve

Can you set a static dhcp reservation on your router?

Sent via a phone. Sorry for any typos.

I could but would rather not.  The Unraid is in the middle of the range of other fixed IP machines.  So it would have to be a new IP for the Unraid box which then means some different port forwarding on the router.

I would rather just figure out the problem and fix it.

The syslog is attached.

It is cut down a bit fir the 192kb limit.

As you can see it is a lot of activity.  It is constantly renewing.  Also, the serve is available at both the fixed IP and the dynamic IP.

It does not start at boot.  In this syslog, it starts after about 7 or 8 hours and then the last 7 lines in the syslog are repeated every 4 minutes.

Any and all comments are welcome and appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Steve

You can set whatever it's current IP is reserved as static in the router. You don't have to give it a new IP. At least not in any routers I've ever used.

Disable your add-ons and reboot and see if it repeats.  I have a feeling an addon is causing this.  Regarding your router, are you accessing your tower from the Internet which is why you are using port forwarding?

Ok, giving it a try.

Going stock per the instructions in dgaschk's signature.

Will report back.

On the router - yes for Plex.

Thanks,

Steve

Going back to stock seems to have fixed the problem.  Thanks!

I will start adding the plugins back, 1 plugin at a time and running for a day.

I will report back when I find the offending plugin.

Thanks,

Steve
