eBay - HITACHI DESKSTAR 5K4000 3.5” 4TB SATA HARD DRIVE 0S03364

Ebay auction... I purchased 5 for around $140 each. I waited until I used up my budget before posting here. Don't need extra competition. :)

These are the 5400rpm 4TB 32MB cache Hitachi's... last of an out-of-production breed. I have 4 right now and they have proven just as durable as their 2TB and 3TB versions. Good luck.

DISCLAIMER: I'm not the seller, I'm a fellow buyer. I have no more information about these than you do, so contact the seller if you have questions. And clearly, buy at your own risk.

Good price -- I just bid on a couple to see if I can "steal" them  :)

There are a couple of snipers out there... one of them pushed the price to $160 and I backed off. But the most I paid was $141 (today), and the lowest I paid was $138. I really wanted to get 10, but I was afraid I would be sleeping on the porch. :P

I've got timers set to notify me 3 minutes before the expirations, and plan to place a low-ball bid ~ 30 seconds before the auctions expire.  Hoping to get one or two for ~ $130 ... but it just depends on where they are when time runs out.  If they're over $140 I'll pass.

How are you setting your timer?

How are you setting your timer?

Nothing fancy -- just my watch  :)

It's actually set for 5 min before the first one expires (tomorrow morning) ... and then I'll just set an hour timer for the next few;  then repeat the process Tuesday morning.

I wish e-bay had an "automatic bid" timer -- then I could just set it to automatically place a bid up to my limit!!

Haha... yeah, I was going low tech too. Just thought there was some kind of app I hadn't heard about for that.

How are you setting your timer?

When I bid on things the eBay iPhone app sends me a reminder 3 minutes before an auction ends and counts down/updates with new bids in real time.

Nice ... but of course that's only useful if you happen to have an iPhone  :)

(there are still a few of us who don't !!)

Just checked, however, and you can set your "Watched" items to send an e-mail whenever the status changes (i.e. another bid) and/or get an instant message to any IM client on your PC.  Basically the same thing as the SmartPhone alerts you can get on iPhones, Android phones, Windows Phone, BlackBerry, or iPad  :)

I just updated "My EBay" to add watch items and alerts for the disks  :)

I don't even own a cell phone.

There are indeed still a few of us that actually use land-line phones  :)

(I do have a cell phone -- but I rarely use it, and it's just a prepaid that costs me ~ $50/YEAR)
