May 13, 201313 yr Hello. I'm not sure if this has been asked before. Can anyone share insight on this?
May 13, 201313 yr I use this in my unRAID with AirVideo plugin to iPad/iPod - don't know if Plex needs more... http://ark.intel.com/products/49490
May 14, 201313 yr Plex doesn't list much in the way of hardware requirements. All they list is 2.0GHz Core 2 Duo or greater for 720p transcoding. That said, any decently powerful current gen Sandy Bridge or Ivy Bridge CPU is more than enough. My server has an Ivy Bridge Core i3-3220T and it's powerful enough to do multiple transcodes to simultaneously.
May 14, 201313 yr Author Hello scumball and dirtysanchez, Thanks. I've tried airvideo before, but I get skipping. When I tried Plex on a core2duo processor, it works smoother. Though this time, I'll be setting up a new machine for a friend. Was wondering if a lower processor would work. I guess no one can really say unless they've tried it. The more core would be the better, I guess. BetaQuasi, I've gone through almost 20 pages of the plugin, and still haven't seen any answer, that's why I've resulted to asking. Thanks to all.
