May 22, 201313 yr So I had to replace a failing disk. I first ran a parity check with 0 sync errors (and 6k read errors on the drive I'm replacing). Then I stopped the array, powered down, installed the new drive (old one was WD1.5TB green, new one is a WD2.0TB green) and powered back on. There was a disk missing message as expected, so I selected my new 2TB drive, checked the checkbox "yes I want to this" and started the data-rebuild. Since then I have not been able to access the webUI page. Unmenu is not responding either. But my array and my shares are accessible. Is there any way to tell what's going on? Usually my parity check takes about 15-16 hours, so I'm guessing the data-rebuild should take about the same amount of time? I'm using 5.0-rc12a and I checked the syslog using telnet but there are no messages since I started the data-rebuild
May 23, 201313 yr There is a thread that outlines how to restart emhttp without shutting down the server; but I'd just be patient and wait until it's had plenty of time for the rebuild. I don't recall just how much longer; but it does take longer than a parity check. If you're used to 15-16 hours for a parity check, give it two days. If you have disk activity lights, they should ALL be active during the rebuild ... and when they stop it'll be done. Also, try to access the Web GUI from ANOTHER PC on your network.
May 23, 201313 yr This is the thread that outlines how you can restart the Web GUI (emhttp) without restarting the server: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=27085.0 HOWEVER ... as I suggested above; I'd wait until the rebuild has completed (no more drive activity) before doing that. Also, be sure to try to access it from another PC ... I've seen instances where a PC can no longer access UnRAID for some reason (probably IP or DNS related); but trying from another system (laptop, wife's, etc.) will work fine.
