Movies from my share are disappearing.

Featured Replies

My Movies and Television span across disk 2 - disk 6, right now my Movies share is empty except for one Movie, my TV share is fine.

This started happening a couple days ago when I installed a new drive cage.

When I put in the new cage I had trouble mounting my system drive, it didn't like the following argument "mount  -o auto,rw,exec, noatime, nodiratime, -t reiserfs /dev/disk/by-label/sysdrive /mnt/sysdrive" it said wrong fs type.

So I changed it to "mount -t reiserfs /dev/disk/by-label/sysdrive /mnt/sysdrive" and then the system drive started mounting fine.

Now my first two disks are having trouble, if I reboot the server it will work fine for a couple days.

Are my disks failing?

I tried attaching my syslog but it's too large, here is a link: https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B9Qkm4TTd718akpsTnZIZ1JZVms&usp=sharing

I looked in my log and I keep getting this over and over again:

I switched the 2 drives, from on board to dedicated card it booted without errors.

Going to keep an eye on it for the time being and see if that was the problem. Could also be the cables as both drives had the same cables.

When I put in the new cage I had trouble mounting my system drive...

I'm confused by your repeated reference to 'system drive'.  Since unRAID boots from flash, I was guessing that you mean the flash drive, but then you start quoting syslog messages relating to a ReiserFS device. ???

Are you saying that all is okay now?    If so, it seems very likely that the issue was simply poorly seated cables.

My system drive has all my software on it, and initially when I installed the new drive cage it wouldn't mount the system drive. So I changed the mount command and it started to mount.

Then a few days later my first two disks started acting up, so I moved them from the onboard sata ports to my dedicated sas card, now I seem to have gotten rid of the reiserfs errors they were generating.

You might be right about the cables, since I have other drives connected to onboard sata and they work fine, the two drives that were generating errors were connected via identical cables, and the only two of their kind in the server. I will test that theory when I put in new drives next week. For now it is running fine.

So your "system drive" is just a share to unraid ?  Or did you change the way unraid is setup and are not using a flashdrive somehow ?

I have my flash drive which is mounted to /boot , I have a 500GB Drive mounted to /mnt/cache which is my cache drive, and I have a 500GB drive mounted to /mnt/system, this is my system drive.

The flash drive has all my PLG and plugins respectively.

My system drive holds all my installations, so for instance once the plugin is installed in Unraid, let's say CouchPotato, the plugin points to the system drive for the installation and data directories.

The cache drive holds my media until it gets moved to my array at 4am every morning to minimize writes to it.

Since this post I haven't seen any movies disappear on my server. Also the issue was with a faulty sata cable I think.
