May 28, 201313 yr i think my good ol' reliable wrt54gl is finally biting it. its been dropping a lot lately. can anyone recommend a replacement that supports wrt as well as a/c (or at least n)?
May 28, 201313 yr I've been very happy with the performance of the Linksys EA6300 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833124494
May 28, 201313 yr Author are there any good ones for $100 or less? probably too new for anything that cheap right now.
May 28, 201313 yr are there any good ones for $100 or less? probably too new for anything that cheap right now. Sure, these are both very good: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833124496 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=33-122-326&IsVirtualParent=1
May 29, 201313 yr I'd recommend something running good open source firmware, like OpenWrt, Gargoyle, or Tomato. DD-WRT is popular as well, but I find it bloated and the development seems a bit haphazard without clear milestones (releases) or even a central source of information. The TP-Link WDR-3600 or WDR-4300 are good deals with simultaneous dual-band wifi, gigabit ethernet switches, and OpenWrt, Gargoyle, and DD-WRT support. I recommend Gargoyle if you get one of these and are new to routers. The Asus routers mentioned aboveare excellent if you want to run stock firmware, but a bit more expensive. Their firmware is actually based on Tomato (I believe), which is part of why it's so good!
May 29, 201313 yr I know you said under $100 bucks but I can't recommend the AirPort Extreme highly enough. Best router I've ever owned, hands down. $179 new but you can get it refurbed for $139 which is how I got my sat two. I only bought a second one because the latest model has a lot better range. First one is going on 5 years old and still works flawlessly.
May 29, 201313 yr RT-N66U or RT-AC66U +1 for RT-N66U, been performing well for over a year now. TP-Links are a fair bit cheaper, but OK too.
