[SOLVED] REISERFS error Drive 4?

Featured Replies

First off, this is a first post for a newbie to unraid.  Thanks to all the great answers and documentation on the forums, I have managed to find most of the answers to my question.

My Build.

Unraid 5.0-rc11 UnMenu installed

AMD A4-5300

MSI A85XA-G65 FM2

WD 3TB Red (Parity)

3x 3TB Red

2x 2TB Seagate

Problem Drive: WD 2TB Green EARS (replaced with 3TB Red)

SuperMicro CSE-M35T-1B Drive cage

About a week back I noticed a reiserfs error in the syslog and it seemed to be confined to drive 4. (WD Green)  I attributed the error to SF as that was what I had just installed and was playing around with.  I removed SF and rebooted the array at which point disk 4 red balled.  I was ok with this as this was one of my oldest drives from my previous Synology NAS.  Went out and got a new WD RED 3TB as a replacement.  Precleared the new drive twice and installed in array with a parity check.  No write errors and everything came back.

everything ran fine until I checked the syslog again and the same error is occurring again on the new drive.  I have double checked the drive connections.  have also swapped out the 3TB in the drive cage for an empty slot.  same error still occurs.

syslog attached (original syslog too large.  error just keeps on repeating with new time code deleted duplicate error messages). second syslog after reboot and swap of drive cage attached as well

Hope somebody can shine a light on what I've done wrong.

Thanks

The errors suggest you have file system corruption on disk 4 (rather than the disk itself being faulty.  This means that you to use reiserfsck to correct the errors.

... and note that the rebuild worked exactly as designed ==> it replicated the old drive, file system errors and all !!  :)
