nightanole Posted May 30, 2013 Share Posted May 30, 2013 Thought id post my preclear times of my wd greens vs my new sv35's for 3tb 1gb per platter flavor. Note both were raw from factory. I assume the wd reds would be as fast as the greens for preclear. garycase Posted May 30, 2013 Share Posted May 30, 2013 The WD Reds will significantly outperform the 3TB Green units ==> the Reds are 1TB/platter units; the Greens are 750GB/platter units Link to comment
nightanole Posted May 30, 2013 Author Share Posted May 30, 2013 Hmm the WD30EZRX-00DC0B0 is a 1tb platter The WD30EZRX-00MMMB0/00AZ6B0 is a 750gb platter Mine is a 00MMMB0 Link to comment

Irrelevant for me ... I only buy Reds these days Link to comment
ironicbadger Posted June 10, 2013 Share Posted June 10, 2013 These are the preclear results from my new WD Red 3TB drive. It's running through my Supermicro SASLP-MV8 card and was running alongside the array performing normal duties. == invoked as: ./preclear_disk.sh /dev/sdd == WDC WD30EFRX-68AX9N0 WD-WCC1T0535979 == Disk /dev/sdd has been successfully precleared == with a starting sector of 1 == Ran 1 cycle == == Using :Read block size = 8225280 Bytes == Last Cycle's Pre Read Time : 8:14:44 (101 MB/s) == Last Cycle's Zeroing time : 7:23:23 (112 MB/s) == Last Cycle's Post Read Time : 24:02:09 (34 MB/s) == Last Cycle's Total Time : 39:41:15 Link to comment
