May 31, 201313 yr Let's build UnRAID community on freenode IRC Join #UnRAID channel on freenode IRC - Network: freenode - Server: chat.freenode.org - Ports: 6667 - Channel: #unraid
May 31, 201313 yr There used to be an IRC channel for unRAID (on another network server), but it was closed because not enough people visited or participated. http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php/IRC_Channel http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=2045.0
May 31, 201313 yr Author freenode.net would be better network - there is a lot of popular channels such as #pfsense #vmware and so on.
May 31, 201313 yr Author I created and lurked on freenode for months. Perhaps talked to one person once. If you join #unraid on freenode - there will be 3 of us
May 31, 201313 yr While a few of us are extremely "chatty" on the forum, I suspect most people here are not the IRC instant message type crowd. I know for me personally there is nothing I need to say here that I don't want to post on the forum, and I don't have time to just "hang out".
May 31, 201313 yr Haven't been on IRC in probably over 10 years. Maybe I'll have to install a client and check it out.
May 31, 201313 yr Will need whoever has ops on the channel to be around... or else will end up with some troll in the channel driving people away. Idling there for now. Not always around, but will hang out for a bit to see if I can help.
May 31, 201313 yr I suppose if it were sanctioned by Tom with a link at top, it would be more popular. I used the IRC client that came with mozilla allot. (chatzilla). I Had installed a PHP IRC client once too. It was pretty neat. If someone could create an IRC PHP browser based plugin that worked with unRAID, I bet it would be more popular. What's good about an IRC channel is immediate support of questions. What is bad about it, the question and answer would be be archived on the forum. People looking to resolve a problem that someone else had encountered would not find it on the forum.
May 31, 201313 yr Author I use mIRC client - you can download from http://www.mirc.com Once you have installed, just connect to chat.freenode.net server then join #Unraid
May 31, 201313 yr Looks like Freenode has a web based IRC page where you can chat on freenode channels: http://webchat.freenode.net/ Just tested it out. Set nick as you like, channel to #unraid & enter the hard to read captcha (had to reload the captcha 3 times to get one I could read).
May 31, 201313 yr I have quassel-core installed on my Raspberry Pi & use quassel client on my Windows system to connect to it. Gives me a similar connection to bnc/znc (always on). Tested that the web client works to connect to the unraid channel... & Ice has ops. So maybe more will join.

June 12, 201313 yr An easier to use web irc client is Kiwi IRC. No captcha required & can connect to multiple IRC servers.
August 20, 201312 yr With 100+ members active on the forum at any given time, I wish more people would join in the IRC channel
August 21, 201312 yr Count me in. Once I get around to installing an IRC client.. Sent from my SGH-I747M using Tapatalk 4 Beta
