khelm
Does anyone know or have thoughts on what the idle power consumption difference would be between a i7-3517UE 1.7GHz Dual Core processor and a i7-3612QE 2.1GHz Quad Core processor on the same motherboard? Both CPU's are 3rd Generation I7's. I am looking at these processors embedded on the same Supermicro motherboard under the model numbers listed below with links to the specifications. Links to the CPU specifications are also listed below. I'm asking because if the idle power consumption would be almost idetical, I might as well get the quad core in case I ever want to use it for something else. If the quad core is going to cost me a few watts in power consumption, I will go with the dual core.
