Suggested settings (bios and otherwise) for this new build?

Featured Replies

I am putting together a new build with the following and would like to know of all suggestions on getting everything setup settings wise for this new hardware. Can anyone please offer some suggestions for proper setup for bios settings and settings within unraid for maximum best performance results as well as settings to ensure that everything starts up and works like a charm? I have read things about adjusting "tunables" on the settings/disc page - and just want to get everything perfect.

Intel E3-1240V2

Supermicro MBD-X9SCM-iiF

2 x AOC-SAS2LP-MV8 cards

15 x 3TB WD Reds

1 SSD Cache Drive

Thanks!

Note that the SAS2LP-MV8's use the same chip as the RocketRAID 2760a that's been very thoroughly analyzed in this thread:  http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=27460.msg244639#msg244639

The md_sync_window settings have made a HUGE difference in performance, so I suspect you'll want to repeat the same experiements that Pauven did ... although I'd start with the 896 value that works so well with the 2760a  :)

Other than that, you should be able to simply set your boot device to the USB flash drive and be "off to the races"  8)

Are those MD sync settings located within the bios settings?

Are those MD sync settings located within the bios settings?

No, they're in UnRAID's Web GUI on the Settings tab under Disk Settings
