Are 4 TB drives supported with version 4.7?

Featured Replies

I searched and found some posts about 4 TB drives, but I did not find anyone using them with unRAID yet. Are 4 TB drives compatible with unRAID version 4.7? If so, which brand/model 4 TB drive is recommended? Does the preclear script work with the 4 TB drives?

I would like to change out my 2 TB parity green drive with a 4 TB, then later change out 2 TB green drives with 4 TB drives as the 2 TB drives eventually fail.

No, 4.7 only supports up to 2TB. 5.0 supports 3TB and larger.

And by 'searched around and didn't find anyone using them' you mean any version, including 5.0, then you didn't search very hard. No offense. Tons of people on here have them, including people with all 4TB systems.

Not to mention the "Support for 3TB Drives and larger is in v5.0-beta8 and later" comment that is at the top of the forums, under News

A word of caution before upgrading ==> Be sure you run a parity check and have zero sync errors before you upgrade.    If there are any sync errors corrected, run it again after it completes -- it should then have zero errors.

THEN you can upgrade your system to v5 (RC13 at the moment ... although within the next week we expect to see v5.0 final release).    And THEN you can upgrade parity to a 4TB drive, and be ready to upgrade any of your other drives as you choose.
