NFS Connection Timed Out

Featured Replies

I ran into an error today when trying to get NFS to mount on a new server of mine. When ever I try and get it mounted I get this error:

mount.nfs: Connection timed out

I am using this command to mount my share

mount xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:/mnt/user/UserShare /mounts/nfs

I'm assuming its because its going outside my datacenter so its not on the same subnet but I'm not sure. I have one server inside the DC where the unraid server is and I have it mounted to that server with NFS just fine. Using the exact same command, works perfect.

But when I go to the new server which is in another DC I can not get it to mount. Both servers run CentOS 6.3 and have the same basic setup. I just get the connection timed out error on the new server. I can mount it using SMB just fine. But I would rather have NFS because of greater performance. For the NFS share I am using this rule *(rw).

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

Could be a routing issue. Can you ping the remote server?

I can ping both ways. SMB works just fine, NFS is the only one that has the connection time out.

OK...there has been a LOT of discussion about NFS in RC13.  That is why I asked.

Install RC13 and follow the NFS specific instructions.

It is still an outstanding issue for some external connections.  It may work for you, it may not.

RC10 works for many, it might be your best bet for now.
