Stick two 4-in-3 or 5-in-3 drive cages in there for 8 or 10 drives. Those handles on the sides are removable too.

EDIT: The other thing I noticed is that Qnap unit is running Intel hardware. I don't know if you can somehow wipe it or have it boot unraid instead of the Qnap OS.

Nah, that will be too big and probably  be very noisy.

 

I have found U-NAS NSC-800 which is similar to qnap but it is out of stock everywhere :( very hard to order this.
