I know that Realtek is a PITA with this, but seeing as they seem to be on a lot of consumer motherboards I'm of the opinion that it's a pill that has to be swallowed

Agreed, which is why I've gone back and forth trying to find a reliable solution.

 

If a reliable WOL is an option to an all ready great solution, then go for it.

I was under the impression that WOL for Realtek is working correctly with -rc15 and above, which is why this is marked "solved" - does anyone know different?

Cool, apologies for any confusion - just getting into WOL and wanted to voice continued support for (the annoying) Realtek.
