Just finished my first mini-ITX build:

Apex MW-100 w/60W DC-DC PSU

Intel D945GCLF2 (945GC/Atom 330)

Seagate Momentus 5400.4 250GB

Samsung Slim DVD Burner SN-S082H

Windows Vista Ultimate with SP1

  • Vista installation: 1~2 hrs

  • driver installation: 1 hr + countless reboots

  • downloading 78 updates worth ~6GB: in progress, 50% complete after more than 2 hrs (in fairness, I had all language packs enabled)

In comparison:

  • unRAID download (latest stable): <1 min

  • extract to hard drive: 5 sec

  • manually edit configuration files: 5 min

  • format and copy to USB flash: 10 min

  • time from power-on to web interface: 5 min

It took less than 30 minutes for the whole unRAID set-up. I've been working on the mini-ITX build since this morning and up to now, it's still not in production.  :-\
