I bought two AOC-SAS2LP-MV8 to expand my server. Without them it was going to and waking from S3 sleep without problems. Now it hangs the system on wake. Reading the forums I see this is a known problem. Sadly I didn't research it before buying the cards.

 

As I don't want to repeat this error:

Do you know 8-port SAS cards that fully support S3 sleep? Please post them.

I ran into the same problem. I don't know which 8-port cards support S3. I'd like to know too, if anyone has gotten S3 to work with any.

Well, to answer my own question, I bought two IBM M1015. They were the only 8-port sata 3 card besides the AOC-SAS2LP-MV8 that had a reasonable price. To make them work with unRAID I had to  flash them to IT mode. While this was not very user friendly, it can be done.

 

I am very happy to report, that using those cards S3 sleep works again on my system.

 

So the answer is: IBM M1015 supports S3 sleep.
