June 11, 201313 yr Version 4.7 Running on HP microserver n40l Seems to run for a few hours and then itunes says disk missing, I check ip addresses and the server is missing. Can't access via firefox either so I just do a hard restart. Advice? Logs.txt
June 14, 201313 yr Author Now I have duplicate files it looks like. I'm trying to copy movies over - a few work and then the system freezes requiring a restart What do I do please? syslog-2013-06-14.txt
June 16, 201313 yr Can you telnet to the server? A syslog that shows the crash is required. See here for info on collecting a syslog: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=9880.0. A keyboard and screen for the server may be required.
June 17, 201313 yr Author OK. I've logged in via telnet to monitor the session. June 17, 201313 yr Are you able to telnet to the server? Login via console and copy the syslog to the flash.
June 17, 201313 yr The syslog doesn't show any issues except that the system was not shutdown cleanly.
June 17, 201313 yr When the system crashes connect via telnet or an attached console and copy the syslog to the flash. Do not reset the system until you've checked the console.
June 17, 201313 yr Author I've deleted some temporary DS_store and .apdisk files which were duplicated. It still happens - I can copy over small files, but as soon as I try something like a 3GB file it starts copying and then freezes. My server is ethernetted to my Mac via a TPlink Network switch. I'll try connecting it directly and see if the switch is the problem.
June 17, 201313 yr Author When the system crashes connect via telnet or an attached console and copy the syslog to the flash. Do not reset the system until you've checked the console. Terminal says "unable to connect to remote host" so I can't. I've reset the network switch and still can't connect.
June 17, 201313 yr Author Just replaced the network switch with another I have - same problem. Copy gets half way across and then I lose connection. Here's most recent log after needing restart. syslog-2013-06-18.txt
June 24, 201313 yr Author Turns out it was a faulty Ram module. Pulled it out and she hasn't skipped a beat. Thanks for the assistance.
