Sata Drives not being recognized

Featured Replies

This is my second Pro version, the first is working perfectly (12TB comprised of 13 1 TB WD Drives). This one I am trying to bring online and seem to be having difficulty. It contains a variety of different disks and sizes (i.e. WD, Maxtor, Hitachi) for a total of 8 drives. The server seems to only recognize the two drives that are plugged into the matched purple sata ports on my MB. The system sees them all at boot time and will even let me boot off of any of them if I put a XP/Vista disk in there. I have checked and doublechecked my connections and all seem solid, secured with locking sata cables. I have a 1000W power supply so it should be stable in that regard. I am thinking there is something simple I am missing...

I have attached a syslog, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Quick update: I tried a reboot (using the 'Reboot' command in telnet) in the hopes it was something really simple. The only problem is I can no longer access the device via the web UI or telnet anymore. I pulled the key and looked at the config files and nothing has changed. Now I am truly stumped...

Quick update 2: In looking through the forums I beleive I have found the solution to my first problem. Changing the BIOS to AHCI. Sadly, I still can't access the webUI or via Telnet so I can't check it. Does anyone have any ideas about restoring this functionality? It did work at first... (I have checked the network cable, switch, gateway, and my other machines have unfettered access).

Quick Update 3: Okay, it works IF I plug in both ethernet cables. Strange. Anyway, big thanks to Joe L. for the AHCI tip found in a seperate topic. That was the ticket.
