Create a /boot/modules directory where one could put compiled modules and scripts that are loaded/invoked when other modules are loaded at boot-time.  This would let one install non-stock drivers and invoke, e.g., elkay14's "script to enable sata devices".

+1 will be also good for add dvb modules, we dont will be must touching bzroot

i was problems with latest unraid with kernel 3.9.6 and drivers for DVB

i get error

Then DVB users dont will be must create own build - kernel, they can prepare modules outside and put to unraid for install after start
