June 22, 201313 yr I ordered a AVS-10/4 on June 15th and would like to know if there is any word on when my order will ship? I haven't seen updates for a couple weeks in the shipping topic. Naturally, I am eagerly awaiting the system.
June 22, 201313 yr On a related topic, when will the case for this system be independently available? Tom2 indicated it would be sold separately, but the LimeTech store is rather barren at the moment => the only thing in it besides the server and registration keys is the LimeTech case badge.

Naturally, I am eagerly awaiting the system. I believe Tom is holding the servers until he has 5.0 final that he can put on them, since that is what they were advertised with when they were sold (I hope nobody paid too much for rush shipping). It would have been nice if this had been mentioned somewhere, but I received prompt replies when I contacted Tom by email about a week ago. I simply let him know that I was happy to receive the current RC of 5.0 and upgrade myself when 5.0 final came out, and he got the server shipped-- it arrived on Friday. The case is very nice. I wasn't quite sure what to expect (first time dealing with the server chassis market), but it's solid and sturdy, and everything that should move does so very smoothly. Looking forward to playing with it this week after work.
June 24, 201313 yr What complement of drives are you putting in your server? Planning to put 5x4TB drives in one half, and migrate 5x2TB drives from another server that I'm decommissioning. I'm going to use some SSDs for disk caching in the 2.5" slots. I've been working to try and get ubuntu to boot on the system, but not having much luck (also why I opted to get the server before 5.0 final was out). Looks like there's not much support for ubuntu + Intel C204. The obvious fallback is to use unRAID that came with it, but I'd rather have a debian-based system. If only there was unRAID on ubuntu I'm planning to use ZFS if I can. I've lost so many files to silent corruption that having a filesystem with full data + metadata checksumming is critical. It was mostly just annoying with movies / video files, but I'm going to start using the server for backup archives as well, and corruption renders these completely useless. Might use unRAID for the media and just keep the backups on ZFS.
