June 24, 201313 yr I have several plugins and unmenu installed...somewhere along the line (or possibly several) of the plugins cause CPAN to download various perl modules during boot up. I have two (possibly naive) questions: 1. Is there a way to download the files local so I don't have to keep re-download the modules each time? 2. Assuming I can get #1 to happen, is there a way to stop the CPAN from running at all? (I'm picturing the scenario where we lose power & internet. And then the power comes back on, but the internet doesnt. That would probably keep my unraid server from booting, no?) Thanks!
June 24, 201313 yr The newest package for PERL in unMENU has an option to "Install MP3 Libraries" (downloaded from CPAN) or not download. You might want to install the current package and see if it does as you need. Use the Check-for-Updates button on the user-scripts page, then use the package manager to "edit" the configuration, leave the default as "NO" so you do not download the additional libraries from CPAN, and save the "edit" screen. Then, re-install (set it to not install on reboot, then set it to install on reboot. That will put the new package into place.)
