I do have a question r.e. your lack of internet access ... how are you accessing this forum??
LOL. I wasn't going to bring up the elephant in the room, I was just taking him at his word.  :)

From his first post it sounds like he uses the internet when he visits the main island.

Possibly ... but if that was the case he'd have long-ago just downloaded v5, as there was a lot of back-and-forth about that.    I suspect he may have a smartphone or other access device that simply doesn't provide download capability for a PC ... but if so there are ways around that constraint  :)

Moce (mo they) goodbye in Fijian, they pronounce their c's as th. The wife and I decided to do a big shopping and spend a week here, go to the only movie theater, etc. I checked on satellite when I first got here and was way to expensive. Will check out Hughesnet later today.

I did download RC15 when it was suggested a couple of days ago, and I see 16 is out now so I will get that too. Downloaded the wiki page so I can change my flash drive before I install. Fiji is still in a time warp as far as technology, 8GB drive is over $50, so it was easier just to by direct from Lime. Main island has (high speed) DSL for $40 bucks a month and you get 5GB. You just learn that there are other things to do other than internet.

Will order the Pi before I leave today, have a friend coming at the end of August so I will ship to him. The cost of importing anything is nuts and cost prohibitive.

So, I will check back next Friday. Thanks for all your help. Will research next time on how to hook up Pi and get everything in sync. Nothing but time.

... Nothing but time.

Very nice lifestyle .. and certainly sounds low stress.    Have a few bottles of some good wine while you're contemplating your next steps on this -- from your name on this forum I suspect you're well supplied  :)

... one other thought:  r.e. Hughes Net  ==>  I suspect you'd have to use an American Samoa mailing address to order it; have it delivered to; and for the billing.    And of course support would be non-existent (although I've had friends who used it, and it's exceptionally reliable).    Unless you have a friend in American Samoa, and a way to get the satellite dish to your location, that's probably a non-starter.
