I want to build massive storage so Like 25 trays. I see some hp storage works that take 2.5 drives  I could load them up with ssd is unraid capable of controlling them. Any ideas for nice case cheap motherboard maybe celeron ,raid controllers. I also found Promise VTrak J300s SAS/SATA for $50 I wonder it is capable of handling 4 tb hard drives

    most of these storageworks enclosures have a build in smart array controller and an expander

    the smart array controller will not work with unraid as it is a hardware raid controller ...

     

    so you will need to check if the one you saw has only he expander ... otherwise you are not going to get it to work ...
