July 6, 201313 yr Anyone out there using a Supermicro AOC-SASLP-MV8 & Supermicro AOC-SAS2LP-MV8 in the same system... I tried adding a second AOC card but when system boots it only recognizes the newer card. Tried every combination of PCI-Express slots available to me, but no matter what combo, the system will only runup the SAS2LP card. System will boot fine with only one of the cards in... unraid comes up and all drives accounted for with either card in by themselves. I am using a ASUS Motherbaord - M4A89GTD-PRO/USB3 with 3030 beta bios. Did some searching and saw people had multiple of the same type card in their systems.... Any help or ideas would be appreciated... Thanks
July 6, 201313 yr You meant PCI-E right? I run two AOC-SAS2LP-MV8 and one AOC-SASLP-MV8 on a Asus P8B-WS. No problems on my ESXi system and was working fine when I was running Unraid baremetal.
July 6, 201313 yr Author PCI-Express yes, corrected my post, thanks, - both cards have the most current firmware. Just cant get both cards to initlize when both are in the system together.
July 6, 201313 yr Might be a shared IRQ problem, maybe try to move the cards around, different slots. Try disabling things you don't need in the BIOS like sound cards, COM ports, etc.
July 7, 201313 yr Author I tried using the different PCI Express Slots ... I will try manually assigning IRQs, already have all sound, comm, and unused ports disabled in bios...
July 7, 201313 yr Author Update: Got both cards to initialize... so far so good. After initializing of the SAS2LP Card I did the CTRL M to enter adapter setting and disabled INT 13H and setup a controller group spinup timing delay... rebooted system and during initializing of both cards - all my drives were visable ... currently only have one drive connected to the extra addon card for now. will do some testing and add to array to see how it plays before fully populating it....
July 7, 201313 yr Author UPDATE: I am still testing drive connected to second addon card - SASLP.... Samba, shares and all the apps are functioning fine, but webgui and unmenu become unresponsive after trying to view drive status and properties.... Here's my Syslog from after both interfaces locked up but was able to console in and restart unmenu. syslog-2013-07-07.zip
