July 7, 201313 yr I want to add new disk. Google gave me this http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php/UnRAID_Manual_5#Add_one_or_more_new_disks. In previous version, one have to preclear the disk before adding. Does this run in the background now? Can i just follow the instruction and not have a problem? if its running preclear in the background, can i see the status? i see no new disk in unraid main menu(http://tower). Thanks.
July 7, 201313 yr Hey man I'm new to unraid but having recently done it, yes, it does "clear" the drive before it adds it to the array. Unraid 5 will take care of it for you. The only disadvantage to this method over using the "pre-clear" is that your array will be offline for the time of doing the clear on the new drive! Hope this helps!
July 7, 201313 yr Author thanks. since i configured my array to autostart array at boot, the drives never preclear by unraid automaically. got everything sorted now.
