July 12, 201312 yr Author wow, the HDS724040ALE640 drive alone is $350 on newegg. quite a discrepancy. i am really tempted to buy this but seeing as i probably wont need it for a very long time, and by that time 4tb drives will probably be as cheap or cheaper, i think i will wait.

From what I could find: the HGST Touro Desk 4TB USB 3.0 Black External Hard Drive contains the 5K4000 the HGST Touro Desk Pro 4TB USB 3.0 Black External Hard Drive contains the 7K4000

I ordered what was on sale on 6/23/2013. It is this drive which doesn't appear to be the pro so this thread has the better deal. My mistake. I was mostly commenting that these were likely to be Hitachi drives not WD or Toshiba - at least until the old stock runs out anyway.
