CrashPlan unreliable lately??

Featured Replies

I have CrashPlan set up on a unRaid 5rc16c server to backup to the CrashPlan cloud.

Randomly, I start the server and nothing gets backed up until I point the Windows client to it, and then it suddenly remembers that it is supposed to be backing up.  Other times it works without any jolt from the Windows client.  Once jolted into starting, it seems to continue to work even if you shut down the putty ssh tunnel and shut down the Windows client.

I've only had it running for a few days now, and sometimes its working fine, and sometimes its doing nothing but taking a siesta....

Anybody else noticing this?

(I do have my unRaid set to not start the array automatically.  Might this be causing problems??)

Setting the array to start automatically doesn't seem to change anything.

If the unRaid server is restarted, Crashplan will not start backing up until you create a putty ssh tunnel and point the Windows client to it, and then it will suddenly restart backing up.  (this is to the Crashplan cloud)

My understanding is that the putty ssh tunnel is only required to set the system up.  Afterwards it should not be necessary.

Is this normal?

I retarred my files, and now it seems to be fine.  Perhaps I didn't have that .identity file saved.

Rebooting the server doesn't stop it from working again...
