I recently installed a spare drive on the last on board port on the mobo on a Arock 880GM-LE

 

I have a SIL3132 card on the - 1 x PCI Express 2.0 x16 slot (blue @ x16 mode) and also on the 1 x PCI Express 2.0 x1 slot and they are empty at the moment.

 

Would it be fine to move the cache to the PCI E x1?  That way I can have the mobo ports and the PCI E x16 for more drives.

    You're not going to see any difference in speed with the hard disks on the card versus the onboard ports so just use whichever you wish.
