July 15, 201312 yr Good morning everyone, I am hoping to get some assistance with a very strange problem I am having with my server. Last night I was trying to replace a 250GB drive with a new precleared 3TB drive and rebuild the array. Shutdown the server, removed the 250GB drive and installed the 3TB drive. When I booted back up I was missing 2 other drives (Both 1TB), I shut the system down again and made sure all the cables were in there correct spots and that they we seated properly. I booted the server back up and it showed both the missing drives correctly and I hit start Array, the web interface just hung for a few seconds before returning the same screen and showing the drives missing again. At this point I am not sure exactly went wrong but the server is down :'( I have 10 Drives total: 6 Connected to Motherboard 4 Connected to PCI Sata Card Please let me know if any other information is required. syslog.zip
July 15, 201312 yr Are you running v5RC16c? (i.e. the latest release) ... if by chance you're still on v4.7, it does NOT support drives > 2TB
July 15, 201312 yr He is running Jun 30 20:51:04 Tower emhttp: unRAID System Management Utility version 5.0-rc12a Saw several BADCRC errors and ckmbr: read: Input/output error You'll need to wait on one of the experts but definitely think it is having problems with the MBR (master boot record). Or at least that is my assumption
July 15, 201312 yr Author Everyone, Thanks for your help so far, I got home from work tonight and decided to set everything back to how it was before trying to add the new drive last night. I booted up to find the same exact issue, so i Pulled the one missing drive and booted up again. This time it only showed one missing drive (the one i disconnected) so I shut down again and then added my 3TB drive in place of the one I just pulled, powered it back up and now everything shows correctly. The only issue I have noticed is that the Array did start but shows Orange and the Drive I replaced shows Red is this normal during the rebuild process? Thanks, Chris
July 16, 201312 yr Author OK thanks everyone for your insight. Come to find out the issue was related to a bad sata cable. Sent from my A510 using Tapatalk 2
