July 15, 201312 yr Having just migrated to new(er) hardware and case, i am using a GB P55A-UD5 motherboard, it has no onboard VGA and i am using a GPU that is akin to a jumbo jet taking off as there is no software controlling it, so i thought i would get UNraid running forst then just remove it, however, it will fail to boot it seems without the GPU in situ...any idea on what may be done to remedy this ?
July 15, 201312 yr Many motherboards will not boot if it can't find a video card. I'd look for a fanless card.
July 15, 201312 yr ...check if there is a headless option in BIOS. Most likely the mobo would not POST without a GPU...go and get the cheapest, passively cooled one from the bay.
July 15, 201312 yr Just buy the cheapest fanless video card you can find !! You're not in the US, so this isn't one you could buy, but just as an example ($5.99 with free shipping): http://www.ebay.com/itm/ATI-Radeon-X300-64MB-Low-Profile-DVI-PCIe-Video-Card-102A2600501-/111106587037?pt=PCC_Video_TV_Cards&hash=item19de77f99d
July 15, 201312 yr Here's one from the UK e-bay site: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ATI-Radeon-X1300-Graphics-Video-Card-128MB-PCI-E-102-A771-Low-Profile-/121143386141?pt=UK_Computing_Computer_Components_Graphics_Video_TV_Cards_TW&hash=item1c34b5601d
July 18, 201312 yr Author LOL..did you do a 'whois' lookup on me ??...that GPU was five minutes down the road from me ...i won it with an ebay snipe tool for £2.20...only had the low profile bracket but the monitor doesnt need to plugged in now so no problem there.
July 19, 201312 yr Actually, it cost you £2.20 plus a couple of pints [the next time my wife and I are in the UK ].
