July 16, 201312 yr Hi, I just added 2 new drives (precleared and set them under devices) to my unRAID Plus (5.0-rc11). But can't get my shares to use them. I tried it with "Include Disks: All" and "Include Disks: Disk1, Disk2, Disk3, Disk4, Disk5" - Exclude Disks is set to None. Already tried stopping/starting the array and rebooting, that didn't help as well. Meh. Don't know what else to do. Edit: Even if I create a new Share, it doesn't use the new drives.
July 16, 201312 yr What is your allocation method set to? I suspect it isn't using the new disks simply because they're not needed yet
July 16, 201312 yr Just to confirm ... create a new share and list ONLY one of the new disks in the "Include" listing for that share (i.e. "disk3")
July 16, 201312 yr Author What is your allocation method set to? I suspect it isn't using the new disks simply because they're not needed yet Hm... the 2 Shares I tested stuff with where set to High-Water... dunno why, normaly I use Most Free - changed that for now. (Not without going "HOLY SHI-" unRAID: "Share XYZ was deleted" Me:" WAIT WHAT!?" It didn't got deleted, but why the hell did unRAID say that? o_O) Just to confirm ... create a new share and list ONLY one of the new disks in the "Include" listing for that share (i.e. "disk3") Interesting, if I make a Share that only contains Disk4 and 5, it doesn't get created. If choose Disk1-3 it gets.
July 16, 201312 yr You DID format the new drives -- right? [i don't think you can start the array without doing that, but just in case ...] Post a picture of the Web GUI.
July 16, 201312 yr Author Attach a syslog. Done. You DID format the new drives -- right? [i don't think you can start the array without doing that, but just in case ...] Post a picture of the Web GUI. Yes they are formatted and of what do you want a screenshot? Main / Devices? Everything Green "Normal Operation" there.
July 16, 201312 yr I was referring to Main ... but I'll take your word for it that everything is Green and looks good. How many disks do you have? Exactly how are you configuring the shares that "don't work" -- i.e. that you're trying to use disk4 and disk5 for?
July 16, 201312 yr Author How many disks do you have? Parity + 5 Data Disks (Plus License) Exactly how are you configuring the shares that "don't work" -- i.e. that you're trying to use disk4 and disk5 for? Simply over the Shares Tab -> Create New Share oder Edit one by clicking on it.
July 16, 201312 yr Simply over the Shares Tab -> Create New Share oder Edit one by clicking on it. Not clear what you're saying here ... can you post a picture of the Shares tab with the new share's properties shown?
July 16, 201312 yr Looks okay, but I thought you wanted to force the use of one of the new drives -- so I'd set the "Included" to JUST the drive you want to try ... e.g. Disk4 or Disk5 Then see what happens when you write to the share.

I stated that in Post #3, it doesn't get created. No error message, nothing happens.
July 16, 201312 yr Just noted you're running a fairly old release. Upgrade to RC16c; and boot to Safe Mode (so no add-ons are run); and then try this. I suspect it will work fine ... and then you can start enabling your add-ons to isolate what is causing the problem.

I suspect it will work fine ... and then you can start enabling your add-ons to isolate what is causing the problem. Upgradet to RC16c and deleted all my Add-ons (only SimpleFeatures and PLEX anyway), booted into safe mode, created a new share... nope, still not working. The new share I created (disk4 and 5) is shown to be 5,45TB big, but thats the size of disk1-3. Actually it should only be like 1TB (640GB + 500GB). After that I created a new share called Test8, included disk4 and 5 and excluded disk1-3 -> that shows up as 1,81TB. If I add disk4 and disk5 as their own as network shares, their correct size is shown... (trying in non-safe mode doesn't work as well) Added a Syslog again if that helps. syslog.zip
July 17, 201312 yr Author You do know that the share directory won't be created until you write to it? Doesn't explain why the already existing Shares aren't getting expanded. (Even after writing something to them) Anyway: Did a further Test after upgrading. Writing to Disk 4 / 5 directly -> Works Creating a Share that includes Disk 4 / 5 -> "Not enough space" ... Existing Shares with Disk1-3 -> Works Existing Shares with Disk1-3 and Disk 4 / 5 -> Works, but it doesn't use Disk 4 / 5 (Share set to Most Free and Disk 4 / 5 ARE the most free ones) Do I maybe have to do any "initialization" or anything like that?
July 18, 201312 yr Author What does Settings->Share Settings show? You must be fuc-... thank you. That solved the problem, Disk4 and 5 were simply not set under the settings. Derp. Edit: Great now my first disk died(?) "not installed" it says for Disk1. >_>

(under Settings->Share settings) Unless you need to exclude a specific disk from being used by any user-share, there is absolutely no need to populate those fields at all.
