Parity check issues when parity drive > largest data drive

There are a couple recent instances where parity checks are DRAMATICALLY slowing down after the parity check passes the size of the largest data drive, AND the parity drive is generating hundreds of thousands of sync errors at this point as well ... as if it wasn't zeroed when the larger parity drive was installed.

 

Both the uncleared section of the parity drive; and the VERY slow progress at this point, is clearly NOT good !!
