WTB: LGA 1156 Processor

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm currently working on an esxi setup using a supermicro x8sil. I thought I had everything sorted out and then ran into a bunch of issues. The first issue was finding the right RAM to use. This took a few iterations of trial and error before I realized that only unbuffered ECC ram is compatibile with an i3 processor. Now, I've discovered that the core i3 doesn't have VT-d enabled, so I'm unable to passthrough my PCI/PCI-e devices. If any of you have a core i5, core i7, or a xeon processor that fits into a LGA1156 socket, please let me know. I'd be interested if the price is right.

In summary: I'm looking to buy a core i5 or xeon X3400 / L3400 series processor for a LGA 1156 socket. I would prefer the xeon since the i5 is technically not supported.

I have a Xeon X3440 Quad Core 2.53GHz CPU (LGA 1156) that is in a fully functional Dell PowerEdge T110 server.  Server has 4GB ECC DDR3, DVD burner, no hard drives installed, no operating system, Perc s100 SATA controller, onboard Matrox video and single Intel NIC.  http://www.dell.com/downloads/global/products/pedge/t110_spec_pt.pdf

Send me a PM if you want the whole thing or just the Xeon - make me a reasonable offer.  Include your zip if you want shipping estimate.
