August 5, 201312 yr I'm looking to get a UPS for my unraid server. I'm not trying to spend too much, would like to get one under $150 if possible but willing to spend more if it's worth it. I just want unraid to powerdown cleanly, and maybe have a desktop that will also shut down (would be nice but not a requirement). Been looking at the following models: APC BR1000G Back-UPS Pro 1000 - $99 @ Amazon CyberPower CP1500AVRLCD Intelligent LCD UPS 1500VA 900W AVR Mini-Tower - $129 @ Amazon CyberPower CP1000PFCLCD PFC Sinewave UPS 1000VA 600W - $130 @ Amazon Thoughts? Any other recommendations? I'm open!
August 6, 201312 yr My vote is for the last in your list: CyberPower CP1000PFCLCD PFC Sinewave UPS 1000VA 600W - $130 @ Amazon 'Pure' sine wave output that will work with newer 80+ supplies. Link to pic of output waveform
August 6, 201312 yr Author Yeah I was kind of leaning towards that one for the same reason. The CP1500 was tempting due to higher capacity though.. but if i'm only wanting to do a clean powerdown the capacity wouldn't matter too much i'm guessing. Sent from my Q10 using Tapatalk 2
August 6, 201312 yr Author Hmm.. Okay, both the CP1500AVRLCD and BR1000G went up in price overnight. That makes my decision a little easier, i think I'll be getting the CP1000PFC before that goes up as well.
August 6, 201312 yr Prices fluctuate a lot it seems. I got a really good deal on a Costco recently for a CyberPower 1500 for $110. Deals come and go. My preference is also for CyberPower lately as I've had quite a few APC failures in my home over the years. Good plan for making sure you're getting something to offer a clean power down. I only allow my UPS's run for about 3-5 minutes and then have them start shutting things down long before it gets to 50% drained. That really helps the battery life. As for our area, if the power is not back in about 2 minutes, it's going to be out for hours.
