December 9, 200817 yr I just set up my first unraid server and have connected one drive to it and began transferring data, I haven't installed the parity drive yet as I thought it would be best to install the parity after I tranfer everything into the server. I started last night transferring 1 TB and 20 hours later only half of that has been transferred. Is this normal? Is there a way to speed it up? Did I not properly disable parity?
December 10, 200817 yr when I first copied data to my Tower, I averaged 30 Gb/hour. I did the same as you by only installing the one disk. (I had to RMA the parity drive, clicking sounds). When I got the replacement, I set it as Parity and it ran through the Parity-sync and all is good
December 11, 200817 yr You should be getting faster speeds than that. Please post a syslog, check the Troubleshooting wiki page for help. Try to capture the syslog *before* you reboot. Then you should check the Improving unRAID Performance page.
