January 12, 201412 yr What is the best way to delete pled and start all over? Delete the following: /flash/extra/PlexMediaServer xxx version.txz /flash/config/plugins/plexmediaserver /flash/config/plugins/plexupdater /flash/config/plugins/plexupdater.plg /mnt/cache/plex or where ever your plex library is located then reboot and reinstall pmsupdater and pms.
January 12, 201412 yr I have everything deleted on the flash drive. Never had Pms updater installed. Now it won't left me delete the applications folder. I have deleted everything but the "Preferences xml file, it says error code 8072. One of the shares I tried to add to the library (3d Movies) is outside the applications folder on my cache drive, it won't let me delete it because it is in use.
January 13, 201412 yr reinstalled from scratch and still nothing. Stupid question. The path should be applications/Plex/library and then Plex/temp. So there is only one pled folder with two folders in it library and temp or is it 2 plex folders each? one has library and the other has temp? I still have this error as well. Is the error big enough to make my movies not show up in the library? "/boot/config/plugins/plexmediaserver/exportsettings: line 10: warning: setlocale: LC_ALL: cannot change locale (en_US.UTF-: No such file or directory"
January 14, 201412 yr I have mine installed like this with no issues: Library directory: /mnt/cache/Plex/Library Temp directory: /mnt/cache/Plex Hope this helps
January 14, 201412 yr So a quick question on the plex side, when adding media I can only see the actual mnt drives and not the shares. Is this normal or is there a way for Plex to be assigned a single share for each media type? Thanks in advance you need to drill down to your shares /mnt/user/share/TvShows blah blah
January 14, 201412 yr Should it matter if I have my movies share set up for disk shares? Example Movies uses disk1,disk3. Excludes disk2? There must be something simple that I have done wrong.

In my install I have to comment out those two lines otherwise PLEX will not work.
January 16, 201412 yr Thanks nacat78, how do I remove packages from unmenu? Thanks again for all your help.
January 16, 201412 yr on unmenu, on the packages page you can select each one and disable/dont reinstall at reboot or just uninstall from there. can also navigate to the unmenu folder on flash drive and manually delete them so that they are not reinstalled during a reboot.
January 17, 201412 yr You are the man. Deleting the gcc++ package from unmenu..... Worked. Plex went through my movies and scraped them all. Thanks again for your help.
January 18, 201412 yr Just wanted to say thanks for the great set of instructions Wombat - installed this, was simple and straight forward. Now have this up and running, sharing Plex to 7 systems internally and 5 external. I even got Sports Media to show up properly, lot of help out there if you google it. Only thing I didn't like was having to rename and reorder a bunch of media for Plex to properly pick it up, but now that it is done, works like a charm. Some questions for everyone out there... PlexPass - anybody paying for that? What is the benefit of paying for the membership? Only thing I saw of interest to me, I get the Android app... Is there somewhere to subscribe to, to get updated when they release new versions? Looks like they update PMS and PHT fairly often. Thanks!
January 18, 201412 yr Glad the instructions helped. I subscribe to PlexPass. If for no other reason it helps support the development team deliver PMS and PHT for free. Not sure if this is true any more but I believe the synching functionality used to be limited to PlexPass customers. If you subscribe on the actual Plex forum you will get alerted of new releases. HTH TheWombat Good points. I will probably get the yearly premium to support this awesome project. From what I could glean from the main site, are they owned by Elan? I will check out their forum for getting updates.
January 19, 201412 yr PlexPass - anybody paying for that? What is the benefit of paying for the membership? Only thing I saw of interest to me, I get the Android app... I bought a lifetime PlexPass. The entire Plex ecosystem is IMHO great software and I use it virtually every day (PMS, Roku clients, Samsung client, iOS clients, etc), so I gladly donated to the project via purchasing a PlexPass. Having a PlexPass gives you access to some features non-PlexPass members don't get. Access to pre-release builds, Plex Sync, Cloud Sync, Multiuser Control, etc. https://plex.tv/subscription/about
January 19, 201412 yr PlexPass for life here too. Very small amount compared to the total cost of the system I'm running for my family. And Plex is the one making it work in every day life. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that none of the big companies become interested in Plex, buy it and then integrate it to their own system.
January 31, 201412 yr Is there any way to install Plex to a non cache drive that is out of the array? I have an ssd drive mounted that I use for various things. Is there a way to get Plex running on my ssd? Thanks.
January 31, 201412 yr In the Plex settings screen, you should just be able to reference that drive directly, e.g. /dev/sdx
January 31, 201412 yr I honestly have a hard time wrapping my head around paying for Plex. The dev's are elitists, many user question never get answered, and they get all of their core code from XBMC and contribute nothing back. I have a post there that is a month old asking for them to explain the limitations in Plex Pass, and got no response at all. Just an FYI for anyone that uses this for multiple people, if you want them to be able to use chromecast (yes this is supposed to become free to everyone but who knows when/ if ever that will happen) each and everyone of them needs to have a Plex Pass. And as far as I can see the "Multiple user control" also acts the same way ALL users must have Plex Pass. This is just absurd, each family member must pay $75 or a lifetime membership? Their software does have some nice perks, I'm currently only using it to remotely access my media, everything local is XBMC. Transcoding the major reason I use plex at all. Their android app isn't half bad either.
January 31, 201412 yr What are your questions? I've had a great experience with Plex. Only the server needs Plexpass for multiple users... But you need to understand what that does. Your don't need plex pass to run multiple vts in your house. I have 5 clients on a single server with no plex pass. I only needed plex pass when I started sharing with my buddy down the block, and then, all we gained was him watching content wouldn't affect my watch status. Ask away, I'll tell you want I know.
January 31, 201412 yr I also purchased a lifetime PlexPass, but more than anything else it was to support the developers of a product I love and have used extensively for more than 2 years. I don't often use the PlexPass features (except running the pre-releases of PMS), but then I didn't really buy the PlexPass to use all the features. Also, whiteatom is correct. Only the server requires a PlexPass for the "multiple user" functionality. I have 4 different households that stream remotely from my server and they all have their own watched, on deck, etc views. Perhaps when you say "multiple user control" you are talking about a feature I am unfamiliar with. The main reason I use Plex over XBMC is the client/server architecture and on-the-fly transcoding. I don't want to worry about having my media in mutiple resolutions and formats to suit different clients. Throw a single HD format on the server and let it transcode down to lesser resolutions/different formats on-the-fly if/when necessary. Friends and family also very much appreciate being able to watch content from my server remotely.
