IPMI No longer working?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I know technically this isnt unraid software related...but I was unsure which board to post to and was hoping I could find some help here. My IPMI is no longer working and I was hoping someone could point me in a direction to try to trouble shoot this.

I'm using SUPERMICRO MBD-X9SCM-F-O. The IP is no longer showing up on my router either

This is an ifconfig -- which no longer shows it either. The lights on my router where they are plugged in both light up, as well as both the lights on the MOBO (orange on top, blinking yellow on bottom). Any guidance will be appreciated.

Thanks

You really need to see if the board is showing any console messages.  Connect a keyboard and monitor to the system and see what it shows.    Granted, you should NOT need to do this ... but there are times when a local display is simply necessary to isolate just what's happening.

+1...connect a monitor and keyboard.

Also, IMHO with IPMI you're not supposed  to use any IP showing/used by the OS.

You can share interfaces physically, but IPMI needs its own IP.

That mobo also comes with a dedicated NIC for IPMI...I'd use that (which is the default) setting/config in BIOS anyway.

It also should work, even when the board/system is shut down (but PSU still ON).

...your router will only see that IP, when you are using DHCP to give away a lease for IPMI (which I'd not do...I'd keep it static or at least configure the router to reserve that IP for this MAC) or when the board is communicating to the WAN side.

The OP was referring to an IPMI problem...not unRAID related.

That screenshot of yours shows that unRAID ethernet interface is not assigned with an IP....you've got a different problem.

I suggest to open a new topic with your problem, include a syslog and some info on how your unRAID is supposed to acquire the IP (DHCP or static).

Solved!!! The Ethernet cable was not correct installed in the power line adapter by the router. Sry
